Concert Series

Brisbane’s inner-city Cathedral of St Stephen hosts a well-respected series of concerts throughout the year. These are usually held on Sunday afternoons, and present a variety of choral and instrumental concerts performed by artists who enjoy international, national and local recognition.

The concerts are budget-priced, and refreshments are available at intermission. Cathedral parking can be accessed from Charlotte Street entrance. Disabled access is also available.

2024  Concerts

• May 5        Dong-Ill Shin   

The world renowned organist from South Korea will perform  Toccata in D minor, BWV 538 ('Dorian') by Bach,  Priere a Notre Dame by Boellmann, Tu es Petra by Mulet, Grande Piece Symphonique by Franck,   Mike Exult's Diptych on "Veni Creator Spiritus", and  Two Old American Hymns
'There is a happy land' and 'I live Thee, my Lord.'  by   G. Shearing

• May 10 and 11      Queensland Symphony Orchestra   in the Cathedral 

The Schola will be singing  with  Brisbane Chamber Choir and   the orchestra   performing  Mozart's brilliant Great Mass in C minor.  Tickets for this concert are available through QSO   here

• May 17      Mass for the 150th Anniversary of the Cathedral,  an ecumenical service with combined choirs from Brisbane churches singing Batten, Stanford and Rutter.   Mass starts at 6pm.
• May 18    150th Celebrations for the Golden Jubilee  Mass for Archbishop Coleridge (11:30am Mass) 
•  May 19      Pentecost Mass and   the Sesquicentenary of  the Cathedral of St Stephen

This year, the 50th day  of  Easter coincides with the 150th  anniversary of our cathedral.  Solemn Mass  will be held at 10:30 instead of 10am, and   Mozart's Missa Brevis in B flat (K.275)   will be sung by the Cathedral Choir and Schola combined.  

• July 7      Dominic Perissinotto     

​St Stephen's own cathedral organist will play Charles Widor's  Symphony No 5 in F minor Op 42, No.1, as well as J.S Bach arrangement of Vivaldi Concerto in Dminor , BWV 596,   and Healy Willian's Introduction,  Passacaglia and Fugue B149.  Tickets available at trybooking here.

• September 11 | 6pm    Roger Sayer - Interstellar X

To celebrate the tenth anniversary of the iconic film "Interstellar "  come  and hear legendary British organist Roger Sayer perform on the Jubilee organ in the Cathedral of St Stephen.  Music from the movie, as well as other works by Holst. FREE ADMISSION
